Resolve Outgoing Email Problems
If you suddenly begin having issues with
outgoing email and receive error messages stating:
Protocol: SMTP Server Response 550 Access denied. Invalid HELO name...
Error Number: 0x800CCC78. The solution is:
1. Open your Outlook program.
2. Click on TOOLS then E-MAIL ACCOUNTS.
3. Select "View or change existing email accounts", then click NEXT.
4. Click on "More Settings."
5. Selet "Outgoing Server" tab.
6. Check "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication."
7. Select "Use same settings as my incoming email server."
8. Click OK.
9. Press NEXT, then FINISH.
Access Webmail
Open your internet browser (IE, Mozilla, etc.). Enter mydomain.com/webmail in the address bar (substitute your domain name for "mydomain.com") or use this Webmail Login link. Then enter your FULL email address (which is also your username) and password. Choose one of the three email programs to use. Be sure to Log out when you are finished.
Set Up Email Accounts on My Computer
Choose one of these four options: Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Blackberry. Follow the step-by-step directions. Do not use the default port for outgoing email, instead use port 26.
Access the Control Panel (cPanel)
To access your website cPanel use this cPanel Login link. Then enter the username and password supplied by Ripples-on-Water; this is not the same as your email username and password. Please be cautious what you do here, because this is what controls your website and email. See How Many Hits My Website Has Received
First access your cPanel (see above), then scroll down to LOGS. Start by clicking on "Webalizer", which will show you a graph of information for the past year. Select any month from the table and click on it for details of that month's activity. This is a great resource for learning how many visitors are accessing your website, which days, what time of day, from where, and what search terms were used. You can even track the results of a particular marketing campaign. Check this area regularly to learn how well your website is doing.
